About the story ...

VALENTINE is a feature film which takes an oblique look at the various aspects of the ubiquitous issue of abuse - as seen in one family, in both their home and working relationships. The story centres on a tragic/comedic surprise dinner presented by two teenage kids to their mother as a Valentine gift. The ulterior motive is to ultimately make her face the reality of their abusive, alcoholic father - whom they have suffocated upstairs. Everything is going quite badly enough, until he arises from near-death in a stupour, to take revenge on the culprits. The dinner is punctuated by three subplots, exploring the issue for the characters at work - in a nightclub, a warehouse and a pharmaceutical boardroom. Valentine is highly visual, engaging and provocative, targeted at the festival circuit around the world.

Valentine

When does family bonding become family bondage? When it's done a little too religiously.
Marcy is cooking up a surprise Valentine dinner for everybody. It's to die for.
She tried to wrap her head around boardroom politics in the pharmaceutical industry. But it was an insane attempt.
Her brother, Stevie, started a new job as a warehouse slug. He began losing his grip immediately.
Stevie with his wacko boss, Skid.
The Last Supper for a family of martyrs.
In this family, you could cut the tension with a knife. A very large, sharp knife.
Bringing it home to an alcoholic dad can be murder. Unless he wakes up, that is.
